Description and responsibilities

CardioNeT – Our Initial Training Network in Cardiovascular Research offers a position as “Experienced Researcher” at Cellectis Stem Cells / Cellartis, Göteborg, Sweden (see eligibility criteria below). Funded by EU’s FP7, CardioNeT comprises eleven partners from both the academic and industrial sectors and aims to implement a highly multidisciplinary and competitive training program in cardiovascular research through cutting-edge projects and extensive training in complementary areas. The successful candidate will be conducting research related to the development of new methods for directing human pluripotent stem cells (hESC and iPSC) to cardiomyocytes with emphasis on the later stages of differentiation and maturation. The project is focused on using in vitro procedures to mature stem cell derived cardiac cell towards an adult phenotype, and will include functional characterization of the differentiated cells. The position is available for two years at Cellectis Stem Cells / Cellartis facilities in Göteborg, Sweden and will involve active collaborations with other partners in the CardioNeT project.

Qualifications/Requirements

We are seeking an enthusiastic researcher with a keen interest in cardiac developmental biology and stem cells. The qualified applicant must have proven experience in one or more of the following areas: cell biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, and heart development. Previous hands-on experience with human pluripotent stem cells and cardiomyocyte differentiation will be valued. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in electrophysiology and knowledge of cellular and molecular cardiovascular biology. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are expected. A PhD degree is preferred, but not required (see below). The successful candidate must be able provide evidence that he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria indicated below.

Eligibility

“Experienced researchers” are in the first 5 years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers, measured from the time when they have obtained the degree that formally allows them to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in Sweden. “Experienced researchers” do not need to hold a doctoral degree if they have at least 4 years of research experience (full time equivalent), measured from the time when they have obtained the degree that formally allows them to embark on a doctorate in the country in which the degree/diploma was obtained or in Sweden. In addition, at the time of recruitment, the successful candidate must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc…) in Sweden for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project.
