The successful propagation of undifferentiated hES cells is critically dependent on high quality consumables, culture media, tools and  reagents. In order to meet these requirements, Cellartis AB has developed media and tools in collaboration with its industrial partners Vitrolife AB and TATAA Biocenter AB.

MEDIUM FOR FREEZING AND THAWING OF CELLS, VitroPBS™

Cellartis, in collaboration with Vitrolife AB, has developed a serum free, quality controlled, ready-to-use media for handling of undifferentiated hES cells; VitroPBS™, a medium for freezing and thawing of hES cells.

CELL CULTURE TOOLS

Vitrolife AB also provides stem cell cutting tools which have been designed for cutting, manipulation, and transfer of hES cell colonies. The “Stem Cell Cutting Tool” is non-toxic and offers uniformity, efficacy and safety. The tool is extremely durable and can be utilized during the whole cutting session without need for replacement.

KIT FOR HUMAN EMBRYONIC STEM CELL CHARACTERIZATION

The most important characteristic of hES cells is their pluripotency, or ability to differentiate into all three primitive cell lineages in the body -- endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm. In other words, they can develop into each of the more than 200 cell types of the adult body when given sufficient and necessary stimulation for a specific cell type. Researchers working with hES cells must continually screen them to ascertain pluripotency. The TrulyStem kit is a robust and sensitive multi marker quantitative real-time PCR method, with which you can measure 13 genes regulated upon differentiation. The relative differentiation state of the cells can be determined by calculating a collective expression index based on the mRNA levels of the genes from your cells and the provided cDNA controls.
